[EN] Parental abuse by sons and daughtersis a reality latent in our society. The present article analyzes the existence or not of psycho-pedagogical variables (academic and occupational) as risk factors in adolescents who exert violence against their parents. Methods used are descriptive, focused on the analysis of studies that contemplate these variables and compare them with research on aggressive offspring. Results suggest that these variables are risk factors for violent behaviors in adolescents due to violence towards parents and they suggest relevant issues to research, prevention and educational intervention. Cognitive vulnerability to depressive symptoms in children: the protective role of self-efficacy beliefs in a multi-wave longitudinal study.

The current multi-wave longitudinal study on childhood examined the role that social and academic self-efficacy beliefs and cognitive vulnerabilities play in predicting depressive symptoms in response to elevations in idiographic stressors. Children (N = 554; males: 51.4 %) attending second and third grade completed measures of depressive symptoms, negative cognitive styles, negative life events, and academic and social self-efficacy beliefs at four time-points over 6 months. The factors contributing to the development of absolute pitch (AP) are still not fully understood. It seems to be neither completely inherited nor completely teachable. This study tested the hypothesis, that individual differences in cognitive style influence AP development. Specifically, it investigated whether adult AP possessors can be characterized by a field independent cognitive style while handling visual and musical tasks. The evolution of dispersal tendencies and of cognitive abilities have both been intensely studied. Yet little attention has been given to the question of how these two aspects may relate to each other, as a result of their joint evolution. On the one hand, learning abilities may help dispersers to cope with their new habitat. On the other hand, dispersal may sometimes reduce the need for learning, because local environments may differ in how much there is to learn. Abstract Both cognitive abilities and dispersal tendencies can vary strongly between individuals. Since cognitive abilities may help dealing with unknown circumstances, it is conceivable that dispersers may rely more heavily on learning abilities than residents.
